A-PAD PH held a Regional Partners’ Meeting on February 5, 2025, at Hotel XYZ in Tacloban City to present its advocacy on Emergency Medical Aid and Care and the rollout of the Basic Emergency Care Course (BECC) Training.
Designed to address gaps in equipping local medical frontliners in low-resource emergency settings, the BECC aims to strengthen lifesaving capacity at the community level.
Co-led with the Department of Health–Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH EVCHD) and the Philippine College of Emergency Medicine (PCEM), the meeting detailed the BECC’s objectives, participant selection criteria, and training requirements.
The session opened with Dr. Ma. Reena Ranario, DRRM-H Manager of DOH EVCHD, presenting an overview of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H). This was followed by A-PAD PH’s presentation on its Emergency Medical Aid and Care advocacy and the BECC Training framework.
Representatives from government agencies, local government units, medical institutions, and the business sector expressed strong support. Notably, the Ormoc LGU and OCD Region 8 proposed a Training of Trainers to broaden the program’s reach across the region.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Statement of Support, underscoring the collective commitment to collaborative disaster preparedness and resilient health systems in Eastern Visayas.
