A-PAD PH joined the Workshop on Social Resilience for Sustainable Societies conducted by Asian Productivity Organization (APO) on March 31 to April 2, 2025, via Zoom Meeting. This online event was participated by various representatives from the Asia Pacific and ten (10) participants were selected in the Philippines to join this workshop. It aimed to deepen the conceptual understanding of social resilience and share successful cases from rural areas. The workshop is designed for community leaders and academics engaged in rural development and community resilience efforts.
The workshop delved into different sessions about social resilience and practical approaches to enhancing community resilience towards disaster. It also highlighted significant stories about community resilience in Thailand, rural resilience enhancement through water and soil conservation in South India and Senegal, West Africa, and landcare in Australia. These sessions were delivered by respectable speakers with strong background in the field of social resilience. Further to this, the three-day workshop served as an avenue for different nationalities to share their respective effort with regards to achieving community resilience through various programs.
On the part of A-PAD PH, its Microenterprise Resilience Program is one of its core programs that is instrumental in enhancing the culture of preparedness and improving the disaster resilience of the microenterprise. In addition, A-PAD PH has been organizing and capacitating its volunteer groups and local partners across the country which helps in strengthening the capacity in disaster response.
A-PAD PH, being an advocate of disaster resilience, finds this opportunity relevant and timely as the organization continues to implement programs on disaster management engaging multi-sector collaboration in attaining social resilience.
