6 MAY 2022,LAOAG CITY – Students, faculty, and staff of Northwestern University joined the orientation on A-PAD PH Human Resource Network, a volunteer network group initiated under its current project in the Philippines, last May 6, 2022 at Northwestern University Hostel. A-PAD PH targets to establish HRN in the six-served regions.
In partnership with Northwestern University, A-PAD PH oriented the eight (8) third-year nursing students, one (1) faculty member, and eight (8) staff in the NWU Hostel. Mr. Karl Lenin Benigno of NWU welcomed the participants and promoted the importance of DRRM with students and staff. Mr. Mark Masudog, Executive Assistant for the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 1 shared the Regional Director’s statement of support for the organization and the volunteer group, emphasizing the important role volunteers play in DRRM.
Ms. Kathleen Baez introduced A-PAD PH by giving them a glimpse of the organization’s vision and mission, advocacy, activities, and programs and services. She also presented the Evacuation Center Management with the COVID-19 Pandemic guidelines to the participants. While Ms. Erlinda V. Caspe of CDRRMC Laoag City presented the basic concepts of DRRM, the DRRM Plan of Laoag City, and the roles of volunteers in DRRM. She also mentioned training and seminars that could be requested from their office once the volunteer is established in the region.
Lastly, Mr. Cedric Puertollano oriented the participants on the concept of the Human Resource Network, its objectives, and significant milestones in different regions. A certificate of recognition was provided to each attendee at the end of the activity.

A-PAD led a 2nd multi-stakeholder forum in San Fernando City aiming to strengthen collaboration & understanding among key DRRM stakeholders.
A-PAD PH donated emergency medical supplies, including shelter tents, AEDs, and PPE, to the Philippine Medical Association to contribute to strengthening their disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
