20 APRIL 2022,NEPAL – The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) liaison office in Nepal, in collaboration with National Business Initiative (NBI), successfully completed the handover of Disaster Information Management System (DIMS) equipment in three Disaster Emergency Operation Centers (DEOC) in Udayapur, Dhankuta, and Sunsari District and at a Provincial Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC) in Province-1.
The district teams, particularly the chief district officers, were excited to receive equipment such as VHF, HF, handheld sets, computers, display monitors, and solar batteries. They committed to properly maintaining the equipment and utilizing them sustainably.
The handovers in Udayapur, Dhankuta, and Sunsari occurred April 19-20. Participants of the handover included the Chief District Officer, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, Nepal Red Cross, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the emergency centre operation team of the respective district. The handover in Provincial Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC) was held on April 21. Participants included the Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) focal person of the Ministry, security personnel, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, CSOs and the media.

A-PAD led a 2nd multi-stakeholder forum in San Fernando City aiming to strengthen collaboration & understanding among key DRRM stakeholders.
A-PAD PH donated emergency medical supplies, including shelter tents, AEDs, and PPE, to the Philippine Medical Association to contribute to strengthening their disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
