INDONESIA -On April 14, 2022, A-PAD Indonesia hosted a disaster preparedness seminar titled “Providing Clean WASH during Disasters.” The seminar was jointly hosted by A-PAD Indonesia, UNICEF, and MPBI (Indonesia Society for Disaster Management) and included over sixty participants.
WASH stands for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene. WASH activities were developed by UNICEF to promote safe and clean water supply facilities and toilets and to improve hygiene practices. Indonesia is prone to many disasters. Lack of access to clean water and sanitation during disasters has been an urgent challenge as water-borne diseases spread and many people become sick. A-PAD Indonesia has paid special attention to WASH when implementing disaster assistance in the past. During this event, the participants discussed how to further promote WASH and exchange ideas in anticipation of the Global Platforms for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) event to be held in Bali at the end of May 2022.
