February 10, 2022 – The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) Philippines and Bicol University (BU) officially sealed their partnership through the Ceremonial Virtual Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement that was held via Zoom Conferencing and streaming live via Bicol University and A-PAD PH Official Facebook Accounts.
Dr. Luis Amano, BU Vice President for Research, Development and Extension, said that this signing of the Memorandum of Agreement is another expression of the power to bring people together to pursue a common purpose and that everyone’s efforts today will see fruition in the future.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Dr. Arnulfo Mascarinas on behalf of Bicol University and Mr. Gilbert Albero the Acting President of A-PAD PH.
“This partnership is anchored on strengthening the resiliency of micro enterprises in the Province of Albay by providing capacity building on Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to micro enterprises,” according to Prof. Elmer Lorenzana, Director of Bicol University Center for Policy Studies and Development. “BU and A-PAD PH will collaborate in producing a community-based BCP that is appropriate to micro enterprises,” he added.
A-PAD PH Acting President, Mr. Gilbert Albero, expressed gratitude to Bicol University for this collaboration to work for business resiliency of microenterprises and stressed out the importance of working together to attain disaster resiliency not just for micro enterprises in Bicol region but for the whole country as well.
Dr. Arnulfo Mascarinas, BU President, stressed that the way forward for resiliency is by building a network of like-minded people that can provide efficient disaster assistance and management. “This partnership will become the vehicle for enhancing our cooperation and coordination for the advancement and advocacy of disaster management,” he said with hopes of a long lasting partnership. A-PAD PH and Bicol University expressed their commitment to work together for the success of the implementation of the project within this partnership.
