As we usher in 2024, A-PAD Philippines proudly presents its quarterly newsletter, covering the key activities and achievements from January to March. This edition’s theme, “Breakthrough Community Resilience in 2024,” reflects our commitment to enhance disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) through strengthened multi-sectoral collaboration.
Strengthening Collaborative Efforts
In 2023, A-PAD PH achieved significant milestones in DRRM, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and partners. Building on this momentum, we have set ambitious goals for 2024 to further enhance our initiatives. Our flagship project, “Project to strengthen community resilience in disaster prevention and response through multi-sector collaboration,” encapsulates our strategy to empower communities, strengthen disaster response capabilities, and foster collaboration among regional and national partners.
Highlighting Multisectoral Partnership Forums
In the first quarter of 2024, A-PAD PH spearheaded two pivotal Multisectoral Partnership Forums in San Fernando City, Pampanga, and Iloilo City. These forums focused on enhancing climate and disaster resilience efforts across different regions.
- San Fernando City, Pampanga (February 22, 2024): The forum themed “Investing in Disaster Risk Reduction for Resilience: Roles of Multi-Sectors” gathered representatives from 17 organizations, including media, government, health, civil society, faith-based organizations, academia, and business sectors. Key discussions centered on disaster risk profiles, governance structures, and the importance of unified disaster risk management approaches.
- Iloilo City (March 21, 2024): Partnering with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Iloilo Chapter, Inc. (PCCI Iloilo) and the Iloilo City Local Government Unit, the forum emphasized “Partnership for Climate Action and Humanitarian Response.” It highlighted the private sector’s role in strengthening community resilience and minimizing climate change impacts. The event concluded with a commitment to proactive disaster management frameworks leveraging multisectoral strengths.
Empowering Microenterprises
In line with our commitment to resilience, A-PAD PH conducted a series of Microenterprise Resilience Plan (BCP) Trainings in the Ilocos Region, Eastern Visayas Region, and Davao Oriental Region. These sessions aimed to prepare microenterprises for disaster-related challenges by imparting crucial DRRM knowledge and skills. The training sessions, held in collaboration with local governments, academic institutions, and partner organizations, equipped participants with the tools to assess and mitigate potential risks effectively.

As we strive towards more resilient communities, we invite our partners and stakeholders to join us in our mission.
