Weeks after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck offshore Maasim, Sarangani, humanitarian response efforts continue as affected communities work toward recovery.
According to the latest government reports, the earthquake has affected approximately 1.59 million individuals (375,664 families) across 580 barangays in the Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN. A total of 77 fatalities have been recorded, while thousands of families remain displaced, with more than 22,000 individuals staying in evacuation centers.
To strengthen coordination and ensure assistance reaches communities most in need, A-PAD Philippines convened a Virtual Briefing and Coordination Meeting with partners and developed a Humanitarian Action Map that visualizes ongoing interventions, identified gaps, and priority areas for support.
The map highlights humanitarian efforts undertaken by A-PAD Philippines and its partners, including relief distribution, medical assistance, psychosocial support, emergency telecommunications, shelter assistance, and rapid assessments. It also serves as a coordination tool to help prevent duplication of aid and identify underserved communities.
Through multisectoral collaboration, partners continue to mobilize resources and provide support across affected areas in Sarangani, General Santos City, Davao Occidental, and neighboring communities.
While significant progress has been made, immediate needs remain, particularly in food assistance, temporary shelter, hygiene supplies, structural assessments, and support for hard-to-reach areas.
A-PAD Philippines remains committed to working alongside partners, volunteers, local governments, and humanitarian organizations to strengthen coordination and help ensure that no community is left behind.
