Empowering Microenterprises for Resilient Communities: A-PAD PH’s Community-Level Business Management and Advocacy Forum
22 AUGUST 2023, LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY- In a resounding call for community and economic resilience , A-PAD Philippines, in collaboration with LGU Legazpi, LGU-Naga City, Albay Chamber of Commerce, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – Bicol chapter, hosted the Community-Level Business Management and Advocacy Forum. This landmark event was held separately in two vibrant cities, Legazpi and Naga, on August 19 and 22, 2023.
The heart of this initiative was the gathering of approximately 100 microenterprises, eager to explore strategies and tools to bolster their business continuity, especially during and after disasters. These events, hosted at the Legazpi Convention Center and Robredo Museum Auditorium, marked a significant milestone in fostering resilience and collaboration in the Bicol region.
The primary objective of these forums was to highlight the critical role played by microenterprises in the resiliency and recovery of the communities. These small businesses are not just economic engines; they are the lifeblood of local communities, providing jobs, goods, and services that sustain daily life.
The event served as a forum for open dialogues, knowledge sharing, and network formation. The aspiration was to foster linkages that would empower microenterprises to access vital assistance during and after disasters. This assistance could come from various sources, including government bodies, banks, insurance companies, and major corporations.
The collaboration between A-PAD Philippines, LGU Legazpi, LGU-Naga City, Albay Chamber of Commerce, and PCCI-Bicol demonstrates the strength of unity in advocating for community resilience and business sustainability. These gatherings showcased a shared commitment to uplifting microenterprises and ensuring their continued success.
With microenterprises working hand in hand with government agencies and stakeholders, a more resilient and prosperous future lies ahead for Legazpi, Naga, and the entire Bicol region ###
